"We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give."

Winston Churchill

As one of Cincinnati’s oldest currently operating companies, MSP is deeply rooted in the community. And because we view our past as an integral part of our future, we’re committed to giving back to the communities in which we do business. We encourage each of our 50-plus employees to become involved in something bigger than themselves, something where they can use their gifts and talents to further the good of others. And because we have so many gifted and talented people, we’re proud to say that we’ve been able to give quite a bit. bullet line

The Sharonville Christmas Fund

Every year during the holiday season, MSP gives back to the local Sharonville Community by “adopting” a family through the Sharonville Christmas Fund. The Sharonville Christmas Fund is a non-profit organization available to assist Sharonville residents in times of need. The volunteer Board of Directors for the Fund receives names from area churches and schools of families who need assistance. Every year the Fund assists approximately 50 families, over half of whom are "adopted" by businesses and organizations from the area. MSP employees purchase food, clothing, toys, and various other gifts for our adopted "family". This allows our employees the opportunity to give back to the community in a personal, meaningful way.

Canstruction®

In addition to personal charitable involvement, we also participate as a corporation in several charitable events, the most notable being Canstruction ®, an annual charity competition where design firms put their skills to the test to see who can build the most astounding structure made entirely from full cans of food. In fact, MSP’s very own Stephanie Kirschner (VP Finance & Administration) was instrumental in bringing this competition to the Cincinnati area ten years ago. As leaders in the local community, we’re always seeking new ways to give back to the community, and if we can find ways of helping others give back as well, that’s even better. Canstruction is a perfect example of this.

The national Canstruction events combine the competitive spirit of a design/build competition with a unique way to help feed hungry people. Competing teams, lead by architects and engineers, showcase their talents by designing giant sculptures made entirely out of canned foods. At the close of the exhibitions all of the food used in the structures is donated to local food banks for distribution to pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, and elderly and day care centers.

In 2007, MSP continued its proud tradition of being a part of the Cincinnati Canstruction competition with its entry the “Balancing Act”, which won the award for “Structural Ingenuity”. The “Balancing Act”, consisting of 15,100 cans, is the most aggressive project ever pursued by MSP in the Canstruction competition. A colossal cube poised delicately on its point, the “Balancing Act” is a simple symbol of balance and generosity; meant to inspire those of us who are more fortunate to give back to those who are less fortunate so we can create a more balanced world.
